The Residence |
This home is a masterpiece that has been years in the making and designed for gracious but comfortable living. With 4 bedrooms and 4 ½ baths, this home is full of premium amenities including an almost new designer kitchen, huge living room with an adjacent large bar area and surround sound, billiard room, incredible master suite, large dining room with fireplace, 4 garage bays, porches and decks, and beautiful landscaping all sitting high on the hill overlooking Lake Summit. The original home was built in 1993 and the house was more than doubled in size in a 2003 renovation.
The Entry |
A grand foyer greets guest as they walk through the mahogany and glass front door. This welcoming entry features gleaming oak floors plus walls and ceilings of pickled tongue and grove pine. Notice the handsome box beam ceiling.
Screened Porch |
Just beyond the foyer, the screened porch offers magnificent lake and mountain views. With its varnished pine floors and pickled pine ceiling, this space is the perfect venue for small gatherings. For outdoor grilling, an open deck can be accessed directly from this porch.
Great Room |
The owner was inspired by the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles on one of his trips to France. Under the Zielinski sky ceiling, palladium windows with massive columns frame the lake view with matching mirrors and columns on the opposite wall. The effect is a lake view no matter which direction you look. The stamped concrete floors are reminiscent of slate floors common in European castles. The gas fireplace is surrounded by a Louis XIV cultured limestone mantel. The oversized plasma TV above the fireplace and the 8-speaker surround sound make this room an incredible spot to watch your favorite movie or sporting event. Built-in cherry cabinets frame either side of the fireplace. The ceiling is nearly 10 feet tall with the sky ceiling vaulting another 4 feet. The sky ceiling features Archangels Michael and Gabriel on the ends with references to the sunrise and nightfall. From this room, the magnificent mountain and lake views are both amazing and inspiring.
New in 2008, this custom designer kitchen by Urban Interiors of Charleston, SC is French Country on a grand scale. The cabinets, all custom crafted by a small woodworking shop near High Point, feature rustic cherry with knot holes exposed and painted and glazed. The countertops are Venetian granite with a stainless steel under mount sink. The oversized island with hood above boasts a commercial style 6-burner gas cook top. The appliances are all KitchenAid Architectural Series stainless steel and include: commercial style s/s refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, convection microwave, convection oven, warming drawer, large capacity icemaker, and wine cellar. There is a beautiful built-in desk made of African iroko wood and a wine bar area. The ceiling has a vaulted lighted section featuring an oversized distressed French style chandelier. The lake view from this room is stunning.
Open to the new kitchen, this oversized dining room features a wall of glass with incredible lake and mountain views. The fireplace has been converted to gas and is surrounded by black cultured marble with and old wormy chestnut mantel. The cathedral ceiling is pickled pine and the floors are oak. The chandelier is a simple custom made oversized lampshade. The built-in custom cabinet is cherry above with wood reclaimed from the Lake Summit Flume line below.
Recreational Space |
The huge bar area on the main floor is a favorite gathering spot for family and guests. The bar features cherry cabinets, Italian marble top and backsplash, large sink, lighted liquor display shelves, dishwasher, and side by side refrigerator. Behind the bar area is a room currently used as a den with high ceilings, large window and stamped concrete floors.
Tucked away on the upper floor and adjoining the guest suite is the billiards room. This room includes a laminate wood floor, large window with custom valance and black chandelier.
Master Bedroom |
This room is truly “fit for a King.” Inspired by the great castles of Europe, this magnificent master bedroom features a huge mahogany king bed imported from Indonesia with custom silk bedspread and canopy above (bed conveys with property). The lighted custom “skylight,” sculpted carpet, remote controlled matching silk drapery and remote controlled gas fireplace all make this room truly breathtaking. An oversized master closet adjoins the bedroom and features built in shelves, chest of drawers, and a washer/dryer. French doors open out onto a private patio area and sweeping views of the lake.
Master Bath |
This massive bathroom features an oversized shower with 2 showerheads, bench seat, seamless glass door and Italian marble reaching to the 10-foot ceiling. Notice the Jacuzzi tub and separate His and Her cherry vanities with cultured marble tops; one with a makeup area. The sleek stamped concrete floor offers the look and feel of slate.
Guest Bedrooms |
On the upper floor, a very private and large guest suite with dormer window and separate bath awaits lucky guests. On the lower level, two good sized bedrooms offer a nice lake view and share a bath with a tub shower. A separate laundry room is also located on the lower floor.
On the main floor and currently used as a study, this room offers an incredible view from the oversized window. The large ensuite bath features double vanities, a Whirlpool tub and a separate shower. Originally designed as a bedroom, this room could be used as a 5th bedroom. The home has a 5-bedroom septic permit.
The Grounds |
Designed by Rick Horger, formerly of Fazio Golf, and built to enhance the lake and mountain views, the low-maintenance homesite features mature landscaping and requires minimal mowing.
The Boathouse |
The boathouse is truly a house in itself. The boathouse features 1 bedroom and a full bath with shower, toilet and custom vanity. The full kitchen includes a range, dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave. Boasting cathedral ceilings and Brazilian cherry floors, the large open living room/dining room opens up to a huge screened porch with one of the best views of Lake Summit. Down below are two oversized boat slips with boatlifts, storage room, huge deck, floating dock and nice swim area.
Lake Summit |
Covering about 300 acres with around 10 miles of shoreline, Lake Summit is a very special place. Duke Power generates power from their hydroelectric plant at the eastern end of the lake. There are just over 250 cottages with boathouses around the lake; most used as summer getaways. On the western end of the lake and along the headwaters of the Green River, Camp Greystone for girls, Camp Green Cove for girls and Camp Mondamin for boys have a long history as thriving summer camps. The Green River is the main tributary for the lake, and with just one look into the water, you will know why it is called the "Green" River. Residents enjoy power boating, sailing, skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, swimming, pontoon cruises and just sitting on the porch, taking in the view.
The Location |
Lake Summit has long been one of the most desired locations in the mountains. Just 8 minutes from Flat Rock and 12 minutes to Hendersonville, Lake Summit is centrally located between Greenville, Spartanburg, and Asheville; each just about 35 minutes away. The Asheville airport is an easy 20-minute drive. The Charlotte airport is a 90-minute drive.
